TESTIMONIALS
The convocation was full of emotions and surprises especially for me. I think the reason is because It has been in Brazil, the thrill of receiving our Latinos friends. We have an exchange of experiences in this great convocation and a greater exchange of culture in the ACM Center together. Our games, our conversations, finally, was a moment of great exchange. I am very grateful for the cooperation and maturity of all!

The convocation was beyond my expectations for initially wanting to know more about the Y’s men for the project to create a new Y’s men youth club in Sao Paulo, after informing me of just interacting with all participating in the event .... and hope to add and learn much more with this new group and help to expanse the Y’s men bringing more and more younger!

I had the incredible experience to join in another convocation, that this time took place in my country! So, it was wonderful having the opportunity to see again people that I have met in Denmark such as Ricardo from Perú and Analía from Uruguay. Receive all the people from other countries was a pleasure that I hope that could happen more often. As always, I believe that the good moments won’t go out of my mind, remembering all the details of each one, each little thing that we did. I’d like to thank all the youth that make this happen and say that without you nothing is possible.

For me, this youth convocation has been much more instructive that the last one that I took part because I think the second I could take more advantage of it. I could meet more people and the projects that were developed there are in process now. I really liked it besides all the lectures we had, I also made many friendships that will last for a long time I hope the next is even more useful because I appreciated much this one!
The Latin America Youth Convocation was a great experience to me. We had the opportunity to meet new mature and interesting people. We could see new customs, different points of view and cultures. The best of everything was the interchange of wonderful experiences that we had. We made a lot of discussions about to get a better communication, where we tried to solve the problems and through those issues we decided to create our blog! Everything was wonderful, so I just want to thank for everything! Thanks

Before the convocation of persons started, I asked me with how many persons I was going to go? Had I done a good job for motivating them to go? And after know that 10 persons were going to assist to the AYC I was really happy and I was really sure that this convention will be useful for us and was like that. When I arrived with 9 more persons I was really happy that they were going to know people that I had known and also with new persons. This AYC was amazing. I knew new people from Ecuador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Bolivia that compete for the same objective, I have met again with people that I had met before, which are persons that are part of my life. We discuss many views of points of many topics, we danced, we made some dynamics; all of this was something that made an excellent convention, and always will stay in my heart because Latin-American is a close group that beat for the same objective: help the others.
I will never forget when Bola woke up us with a high volume of music, the show of the Especial Dinner, how people got fun, when we some nights dancing in the auditorium, when we went out to know the streets of Sao Paulo, the Maracatu’s presentation that was awesome… many remembers that will be in my heart.
Thanks so much to everybody because I will never forget this and I will be there for any questions that you had for helping you, also with the new AYR Analía. See you all in Yokohama.
An experience to share and remember”.
My experience began on the 29th of April, when I get to Sao Paulo, Brazil. I didn’t imagine this trip will start in such a memorable way. The first day, we went to the Development Community Center of Uirapuru; I met people that irradiate love and goodness from their hearts. For a moment they make me feel at home and part of them.
But this was only the beginning, in the next days I met people that I’ll have for the rest of my life in my thoughts and my heart. The convention had young people from Ecuador, Bolivia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Uruguay and Peru; each of them was special for me in a different way. At the end, I couldn’t distinguish the different nationalities, didn't even matter the different languages; we were a whole, we were the Future looking for the same goal.
In a few words, I thank God and all of you for the incredible experience and the teachings you all give to me, I will keep you in my heart and in my prayers for ever!!
This convention was the most exciting, inspiring and emotional experience I have had in my life until now. And It wasn’t because I have a boring life in Peru, It was because the warmth of Brazilian people together with the spirit of Latin-Americans produces a perfect mixture, an atmosphere in which the sensation that everything is possible is something of everyday, and this becomes better when I say that we are young people, because being young is a great adventure.
I learned how work the Y´s Men Club in Brazil, especially how they work in a community center, because I had the opportunity to visit the Community Center of Development Julian Haranczyk-CDC Uirapuru. There I could see how the Y´s Men manage different programs like carpentry, needlework, t-shirt painting and leader’s training. But I have to say that what surprise me more was the joy of the kids, and see how Y´s Men give to them the opportunity to be happy. I hope we can create a place like that in Peru. Thanks to Daniela and Dolores for have invited me to CDC Uirapuru, I hope I could repay you in some way.
Thanks to the convention, now I Know more about Y´s Men worldwide, I know more about programs of interchange and scholarships, how is Y´s Men structure, which are the projections for the Club, and which is the main idea worldwide “Extension, Extension and Extension”, this means to add the number of member worldwide, because It doesn’t matter what we are, even what we do, everybody always can contribute in some way.
I’ve realized that being an Y´s Men requires a lot of effort, because we are not paid for doing this, we do this because we want this, because we like this. We are volunteers, and a volunteer will always find more obstacles in his way.
I want to thank to all the people I met in Sao Paulo, because I discovered the friendship in each one of them, despite of the language or customs, we spend very good moments, and they will be in my mind forever. I miss them a lot and I hope I could see them again.
Finally, I have a picture and a phrase in my mind; those will work as inspiration for me. The picture is the one of the happy kids from Uirapuru, and the phrase belongs to the International President Mr. Bashir “See the light of the hope in the eyes of each kid”.

The previous convention of Y's Men Clubs Latin America in Sao Paulo, Brazil has given the recently formed Y Service Club in Costa Rica the momentum needed to continue working, and has also been confirmed to integrate younger members to cooperate in its mission work with the YMCA and the community Costa Rica.
As a young member of the YMCA I was given the task of participating in the convention to reaffirm our commitment to the movement to rescue and experiences that we would give impetus to our work. Since my arrival in Brazil, I had the opportunity to learn about the work done in the community through workshops Guarulhos to educate their students in different practice areas such as sewing, carpentry, among others. At the center was the traditional prayer that is made at the beginning and end of each week to thank God for every day he lived, but from the beginning, the language was a bit hard to swallow, just the emotion that came out every word of this to feel your love and affection.
After a short tour of the facilities, we went to the ACM (YMCA) in Sao Paulo, where he first met the youth representatives of Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Peru, Uruguay and Brazil, all with their energy and enthusiasm I feel that they knew for years. I share experiences with each movement representing the convention and expectations, both as what we would learn how to return home with new expertise. Each delegation had a different story to tell, about his experience and work in the Y's Men, from the programs they develop to their volunteers and YMCA. I had the joy of making new friends and establish contacts in various countries, and get ideas for developing projects in my community and the YMCA Y Service Club. In addition, we gave several speeches to explain what the Y's Men Club, its mission, programs and projects, and workshops on community work. Each workshop gave us a clue about our mission and reach to the community and for us to be part of the movement. Similarly, we know several of the most important personalities of the Y's Men Club and also in Latin America they knew as our active participation in the youth movement.
In addition, we know from the big city of Sao Paulo, compare and contrast with the cities where they come, and come in direct contact with Brazilian culture, which we are infected by their energy and hospitality of its people . The convention was to be a value-added experience of cultural exchange: to learn new dances, a little of the language, try different foods, and more to be remembered for a long time.
This is only a brief summary of the vast experience I lived through the Latin American Convention in Brazil. Since my return to Costa Rica I have proposed new targets within the YMCA and the Y Service Club, inspired by the testimonies of my colleagues, and trusting people who have supported me and advised me in the distance. The Y Service Club Costa Rica now has a road full of challenges and renewed hope to the upcoming convention success stories and ideas to share.
